20220904: Setia Alam > Kuala Selangor > Ijok > Setia Alam

Total Riders: 3
Journey Covered: 87km

Today this was a leisure ride, with one of the friends back to ride after such a long layoff. Today's ride without any hill climbing, almost flat route with slow speed. We started the ride about 7.15am in the morning, starting from the Setia Alam Central Park. We started by going thru Klang, passing by Bandar Bukit Raja using the new flyover bridge heading to Jalan Kapar. Everything seems good for today's route.

As usual, I would ride at the behind following the train's head speed which is just nice for the rest of us. From there, we turn left to follow the Jalan Kampung Perapat and then to Jalan Keretapi Lama. This to avoid the main road of Kapar / Kuala Selangor which sometimes having lorry passing by. Though cycling is fun, but I do believe that safety would need to come first. Nothing is interesting here, except there are some nice hidden seafood restaurants as well as coconut flower drinks.

As usual, the sun start to shining and the heat getting stronger. When we almost the famous Jeram pao shop, then only we decided our journey to continue on to Kuala Selangor. The fun of cycling with this group is the impromptu decision and hence the journey continue. I was suppose to train back my stamina to prepare for the Hulu Selangor KOM 2022. From here we continue our journey till Jalan Kuala Selangor, passing by SJK (T) Bukit Rotan. Here we have our first stop and resting for a while. Here we met with 2 other cyclists and chatted for a while. They were asking where we heading to and whether they could following us together. When we turned into Jalan Parit Manang, they continue their journey on their own.

Continue we pedalling until we reached the junction of Jalan Dato Miskon, and here we had another stop to take a rest under the hot sun. We saw a peloton passing us when we stopping, though our train head trying to follow them. What I could do is telling the train head to continue while I having my rest. However, at the end we still stick with each other. The day getting hot by now. Hence this is just a short stop for us. What I like this stretch is due to the drains water is quite clear, which I find it amazing to have such a clean water.

From here, we pedalling back to Setia Alam. Instead we going thru the Jalan Meru as usual, the train head directed us to turn into the kampung road. From there, we had another stop again and this time to buy some water. Here, I received a call from my wife telling me the delivery of the bed bunk can't be done due to the security guard does not allow the lorry to enter. I had to make a call back to the guard house and spending 30 minutes reasoning with the guard. By then it really hot, and I'm sorry to my friends waiting for me under the hot sun.

Once this sorted out, we continue our ride back to Central Park, but I didn't join them for drinks as I need to rush back to see the bed installation. Had the guard let them in earlier on, I would able to join them at least for a couple of sips before heading back. However, indeed this is a good ride though it's a bit hot by then.

20220820: GM > Jenjarom

Total Riders: 4
Journey Covered: 73km

Per the planning that we had, supposed we start to rolling by 7.15am. However I overslept and told the Captain to start rolling by 7.30am instead. Luckily I already pre prepared last night and hence I could start to drive to the meeting point quite fast. Once reached to GM Klang, quickly get ready with the gear and without warming up, we just start peddling for the day.

From here we heading to KESAS using the motorcycle lane. Though it's Saturday, I would say it's not many motorcycle using the lane, and even some of the motorcyclist using the car lane making this cycling path even better. From here till we reach Jenjarom, the weather just kind to us today.

From KESAS, we ride to meet another rider and continue our journey. We passed thru Rimbayu and heading towards BOH plantation. Everytime passing BOH, I'm quite amazed that there is a tea plantation in the middle of town, and what's more it's not at highland like Cameron Highland. From here we turned into Jalan Kampung Sri Cheeding.

Frankly speaking, this road only consists of 2 lanes, to and flo. Since it's Saturday, I guess the traffic is more congested than on Sunday. Cyclist going thru this road should be riding in single file. And there are a lot of hump along this road. From here we turned into Jalan Helang.

From here, there is about 10km to reach our destination. Everything going great for the day. Thinking of the breakfast that I'm going to have, the leg just continue doing the action. Not long after that, we reached to our destination.

Once at the destination point, we just hanged our bike on the rack provided. The stall having quite crowded, giving hint that the breakfast is liked by many people. What is famous would be the porridge. There are lot of choices and I would say the price is quite reasonable as well.

After had the yummylicous breakfast, it's time we move on back to the starting point again, GM Klang. It's almost the same route that came before, so it's kind of doing U-turn. By the time we reached the starting point, it's almost 11am. And weather seems like it's going to rain by then. True enough, after unpack everything and changed our clothes, it's start to rain again.

20220813: Setia Alam > GCE > Kundang > Puncak Alam > Kampung Bukit Kapar

Total Riders: 3
Journey Covered: 80km

The supposed journey started with us meeting up at Jaya Grocer, Eco Ardence at 7.30am. By the time, the day was brightly lit by the sun. Seeing that, the first thing to struck me was it would be a BBQ ride again for the day. Again, this ride was proposed by me and I would need to make it happens. In actual fact, this is my first ride after 1.5 months, during the period which I'm really busy with lot of things to handle. Myself seriously not sure could make it happen or not. Kind of regret it to suggest this route.

From Eco Ardence we passing thru Shah Alam town and some tame hilly side. All good till we start to reaching GCE, which this is one of the first route that I've been when I started cycling. And for a person that didn't cycling for 45 days at least, this would be a great task to ask. The sun already started take a toll on me specifically, can feels the heat and sweating a lot.

By this time, 3 of us already splitted. We kept peddling as we know where would be the next stop for resting, even though we never discussed it beforehand. I've passing by the Elmina signboard and knew that it still quite a distance before reaching the 2nd toll and eventually to the pit stop. Just keep telling myself to peddling to the next stop. Till now, everything seems fine for me. Keep my pace and everything fine.

And peddling we keep doing till reaching the rest area. There wasn't anyone at the area by the time we reached there. We resting for a while, and not long after that there is a couple came by. Here we were discussing whether should we continue to Kundang for our breakfast. The verdict then came out, we still going as we still need to passing by the area anyway before making our way back.

After having enough rest, then we start peddling to Kundang for wan tan mee. Suddenly I felt my leg giving me hints that it's been over stretching. Sun just right in front of us. I was far behind both of them, and just telling myself to continue with the journey. The journey itself not far from the stop, just less than 10km away.

Until Kundang, everything still fine. Having my breakfast and enjoying the morning iced coffee. Thinking of the ride back, I'm still start to wonder if I ever to make it back. Anyway, the time came when we need to start making our way back. From Kundang, we continue our way to Puncak Alam. By then, I was really left far behind. Keep telling myself that I could make it home, though it may takes longer time. At the same time, I told both riders I could make my way home and they doesn't need to wait for me, as it was very hot by then. Captain told me "Leave no one behind".

The last stop was at Petronas Puncak Alam, next to UITM. Resting the pair of leg for a while before the last pursuit. There is a small hill in front, and this rest really does help. After the small climb and passing thru Meru, it can't follow them anymore. By then both my friends ways ahead, and I just continue whenever I could. By the time the ride finished, it's almost by noon then. I'm just making sure both of them also reached back to Eco Ardence by giving them a call. After reached home, I gave myself a can of Carlsberg.

20220529: Telok Panglima Garang -> Pantai Klanang -> Morib -> Jugra Hill

Total Riders: 8
Journey covered: 56 KM

For a start, as usual we would be having our gathering at our usual spot for this route at the SRJK. Had the usual catch up with other fella riders while waiting if there is any other that will joining in. We started the journey at around 7.20am. The sunlight start rising and even without warm up, the body is already hot enough to push the bike.

The kampung road that I always treasure always a welcoming sight. The consistent pace about 30 km/h was good and we reached Pantai Klanang quite early. Scenery were catching and there are some photos session which are lovely not to be shared.

From here, we continue the journey to Pantai Morib which is just less than 10 km. In fact I was thinking of having some nasi lemak at Pantai Morib when we reach there. Soon when I found out that it's not going of what I had in my mind. The weather is freaking hot by then. I just feels the sun keep following us wherever we paddling to. The time we reach Pantai Morib, we just looking for a suitable place for any photo sessions under some cooling shades.

After about 15 min of resting under the cooling shades, the next destination on everyone's mind already up, Jugra Hill. Again, the sun accompanying us to the same destination. When we reached there, some decided to up that challenging ride up there and some prefer to stay at the foot of the hill. I tried my best to reach to the top without stopping half way, and still I fail again this time. Half way, I also found out that one of my shoe sole came out. I was knowing this day will come, but I just don't expect it happens on my ride up to Jugra.

We regroup again when we had our enough time on top of the hill. Just bought fruits at the stall by the roadside and by then, we are ready to continue our journey back to the Chinese school to call it a day. It's a bit odd cycling with faulty shoe and I just trying my best following the group.

When we reached back to the starting point, our normal ritual starts. I went to opposite shop to get some chicken meat for our drinks. Some leaving, and some staying mingling around. Again this is one of the happy moment what cycling is all about.

20220521: GM Klang -> Rimbayu -> Jenjarom

 Total Riders: 6

Total Journey: 68KM

It's been a while since the last ride I had with Captain... and today just need to make it happens. When I had reached GM Klang, Captain already ready and was alone there. I thought I'm late to reach to the starting point, but to my surprise we reached there earlier. Not long after that, another 2 riders (a couple) reached.

By the time we start our ride, the sun already way up. We strolling along Kesas motorbike lane and it was wonderful pace. It's under the tree shades and everyone was gung-ho as of full of energy. We exit Canal Garden, heading to Rimbayu. There, we meet up another rider. There onwards all of us moving together.

Not long as the usual route, we would be passing the our first pit stop. That's the BOH plantation at Bukit Cheeding. When the first time I passing this route, it's quite amazing that there is tea plantation at the so called city centre. Though I never been inside the plantation itself, but the signboard does tell something.

We continue our journey thru the kampung route, which I really like it. Again when we turned inside Jalan Helang the road does not really has a lot of cars. This kind of route really make me appreciate more on those peaceful and serene environment of the kampung style.

I started to feels the heat along the way. Generally we were experiencing the heat wave season. From time to time, the train head was checking if any of us couldn't follow the pace or left behind. Really cycling bring out the comradeship we had, and make friendship more meaningful. The pace slowing down in order for everyone keeping the pace and in single line form. Soon we reached to our destination, the famous Fo Guang Shan in Jenjarom.

Of course we didn't ride to the temple, but we just reached at the outer layer of the temple area where the food court is. We had our breakfast there, and I really the porridge being offered here. Lot of varieties that we could choose from.

Once fully rested, we start our journey back. I could feels the heat really taking the toll. Even one of us showered himself with water before the journey started to cool himself. Somewhere in Rimbayu, we took a short break. The heat really unbearable at that time. We just detour to cut short the route, and quickly heading back to our starting point.

20220424: Team lunch in Tg Karang... a new good restaurant discovered

This team lunch has been postponed before due to myself infected with Covid-19. Hence today to make it happened !!! I've planned to cycle there from my house to Tg Karang which considered a nice route and not far away. At the same time, Ed also wanna join me the ride from Setia Alam to the final destination, one way route.

A day earlier, I started to plan the route using multiple tools. I found out eventually that Bryton Active is not a bad tool and quite easy to use. Bear in mind that this tool is using OpenStreetMap to let the user drawing their route. Other tools such as Ride with GPS using Google Map which may be better in term of their map. Anyway, it's own preference. For me, as long as it's simple to use and FOC and does fulfill my needs, it is a good tool.

What had been planned is less hilly ride which both of us preferred. And also I tried to avoid the main road, and best still those road which has less car travel or kampung route.

The ride started around 7.30am from Setia Alam, not too early and is bright at that moment. We started and maintain the speed of around 23km/h only, perhaps this is what we called it as santai ride. Not long the sun start shining brightly unto us.

As true to the route, it brings us to the route less travelled via the kampung route. We were blessed it has less car passing by and the ride was superb. As if the whole road belongs to us, we just enjoying the morning breeze and scenery along the way.

As this route was mapped only the day before, we just follow the route where it brings us to. We reached to a small fisherman jetty, which is quite nice to stop by and have a quick recovery.

Not too long we reach the first stop Kedai Kopi Shin Lok, bought pau and coffee, and ride towards Pantai Remis to have the breakie. By then, we already 1/3 of our journey today. From here onwards, the sun getting hotter and it takes toll on us. Though still the route was having less car on the road, and we just enjoying it.

The route bringing us passing by kampung in secluded area, passing by the kampung houses. Not long thereafter, the road getting narrow and I could say it's only passable by bike or single car lane.... Some of the road really not passing by car, and I wondering how the map could bring us to those secluded place. At some point, I really doubt whether I should go ahead and following the route.

Not long, we reached to one of our intended destination, Bukit Melawati Kuala Selangor. Unfortunately, bicycle isn't allow to go up to the hill anymore. The last I heard, there was an accident happened involved a cyclist and the train ride up to the hill. From there onwards, cyclist not allowed to cycle up. Or should reach the are before the train start operating. Since the morning getting hotter, we decided to have a quick stop nearby at those shops. It's just the last 10 km to our destination.

The last 10 km is pretty tough for us. It's very much a straight and flatten rode. There isn't any shades along the way, we just need to keep paddling all the way. The heat really terrible, and luckily I just had enough water to cooling myself off and keep going forward. Once we reach the Restaurant Sahabat, we both were relieved. Ed was very happy and satisfy to complete the route without much problem. We took a rest for awhile, and the rest of the team mate reaching the restaurant one by one. There they started ordering foods and the feast starts.

Oh yea, the route bring us to 2 gravel road. It's not a bad one considering this is one of the adventures that we had set out from the beginning. As I always like, travel to the places less travel by car. And this kind of route is part of the fun and unknown journey.
